UPCOMING MAJOR FLAKER EVENT - SPRINGFIELD FUN RUN

I would love to get a big turn out for the Springfield Fun Run on SATURDAY 17th September, being so close to home and a smaller fun run it is a great opportunity for some of our beginner runners to try an event without all the crowds.  I think we should start getting our entries in ASAP as it says on the website that depending on numbers entries could close earlier than race day, so they may have a limit to entries.  There is a 5k and a 1k kids event, so something for the whole family!

We will have the Flakers tent for this event and pom poms and signs so it will be a fun family day!

After the race for anyone who would like to hang around we plan on having a picnic in the park.  So if you plan on staying just bring a plate of food to share, your own drinks and some chairs.  Also pack the togs for the kids as they have a wet play area and with any luck it will be a nice sunny day.

To enter go to:  http://www.gsrun4life.org.au/features.html  (there is an option for timed or non-timed, so if you want your results recorded choose the timed option).  Do not use the team entry as it is more expensive, we will just be our own little team in spirit!

Please let me know once you are entered so I can keep a list of who is competing.

BRISBANE RUN FESTIVAL -7TH AUGUST 2011

Well another great FLAKERS event.   The weather was perfect almost too perfect it ended up being such a hot morning after all the cold weather we have had of late.  So everyone that competed had tough conditions.  Chris Stainer completed his first full marathon, well done Chris! He didn't say never again at the finish so I am sure there will be another marathon in the future for him.  Mark Lynam did a PB in the half marathon, great effort on a tough course.  Nicole Fels, Connor McGuigan, Lisa Cheer, Ian McGuigan and Wendy McGuigan all did the 10k and Ashlee did the 2k junior race.  Connor ended up coming 2nd in his age group and Ian came 1st in his age group.  Very happy to have some top three Flaker finishers.  Lisa got so close to cracking the 1 hour mark for the first time but I am sure it is only a matter of time.  Poor Wendy ended up with a stitch so didn't have the most pleasant of runs but she will be back better than ever for the next race.  All those PB's she keeps getting lately have worn her out LOL.   See results below:
